1. Pants must be plain khaki colored. The khaki color is to be the tan shade of khaki. Buttons and zippers are allowed on pants, but must be gold, silver, tan, or clear.
2. Accessory items, such as trim and loops, are allowed on pants, but they must be khaki colored. Accessory items that are not khaki colored must be removed before the pants are worn to school.
3. Pants are to have a sewn hem, fit appropriately, and not have any holes or tears.
4. Sagging of pants and baggy pants are not allowed. Long pants may not go past the top part of the heel of the shoe, and pants may not drag on the ground. Shorts, skirts, jumpers, and overalls must be approximately as long as the middle of the thigh.
5. Pants may include the logo of the manufacturer a maximum of two times. The logo must match the label on the tag of the pants. The logo may include lettering and may be a different color than the pants. Advertisement logos are not allowed on pants.
1. Shoes are required at all times. Shoes are required to fit the foot so the heel of the foot does not slip out of the shoe when the child is walking or running.
2. Shoes must have a back or a strap across the back and must be worn with the strap across the back of the heel. The strap must be made by the manufacturer.
3. Open-toed shoes and slip-on shoes with a back or a strap across the back are allowed. Shoes that zip, velcro, or have any other type of fastener may be worn provided that the fastener is fastened.
4. Tie-shoes may be worn provided that the shoes are tied tightly in a bow. Shoes must be tied tightly enough so the foot does not slip out of the shoe when the child is walking or running. Note – Some styles of shoes are designed to not be tied or be loosely tied. These shoes may be worn provided that the shoes are tied tightly. If the shoes are not tied tightly, the shoes may not to be worn.
5. Shoestrings must be long enough to tie a bow. If shoestrings are not long enough to tie a bow, the shoes are not to be worn. Shoestrings are not to be tied in a knot. Shoestrings and bows are to be on the outside of the shoes and not tucked inside of the shoes or under the tongues of the shoes.
6. Charms and other jewelry may not be on the shoes.
1. The traditional style of polo shirts is required, but the shirts do not need to be the Polo brand. (One example of a traditional style of polo shirt is the Stepping Stones Academy shirt.) Note – The traditional style of polo shirt is most often found in the boys’/men’s departments. The shirts found in the girls’/women’s departments do not always follow the Stepping Stones Academy guidelines.
2. Shirts are to be only one color. Any solid color of shirt is acceptable. The outside of the collar, fabric along the hem of the shirts, and area around the buttons must be the same color as the shirt. Shirts may not have any stripes, patterns, pictures, words, or more than one color.
3. Shirts must have two to four buttons at the neckline. Shirts are not to have more than four buttons and may not have snaps, zippers, or a v-neckline. The buttons must be gold, silver, tan, black, white, clear, or the same color as the shirt.
4. Shirts must be long enough so when arms are raised or stretched directly above the head, shirts are at least 1” below the top of the waistband on the pants.
5. Shirts must have sleeves. Shirts may have short or long sleeves. Shirts with capped sleeves are allowed but not recommended. Shirts with capped sleeves must follow the uniform policy. This includes being one color, having two to four buttons at the neckline, and being long enough so when the arms are raised or stretched directly above the head the shirts are at least 1” below the top of the waistband on the pants. Note - Polo shirts with capped sleeves are often shorter in length than polo shirts with traditional style of sleeves and often have more than four buttons. These shirts may not be worn.
6. Shirts may not include any lettering, except for the Stepping Stones Academy school logo. Shirts with advertisement logos are not allowed.
7. Shirts may include the manufacturer’s logo but the logo may not include any lettering. The manufacturer’s logo may be a different color than the shirt. The manufacturer’s logo must be on the upper left side of the shirt and match the inside label on the tag of the shirt. If the manufacturer’s logo includes lettering or the logo is located somewhere other than the upper left side of the shirt, the shirt may not be worn to school.
8. Shirts must have a sewn hem and be in good repair without any holes or tears.
9. Shirts are to fit appropriately. Shirts may not be too big or too small. Shirts worn on the outside of the pants may not hang longer than the middle of the thigh or longer than the shorts or skirt. Shirts hanging longer than this must be tucked in.
10. Only one shirt may be worn. Shirts with spaghetti straps, t-shirts, and other shirts may not be worn under the polo shirt.
1. The color of the hair must be one “natural” color. Examples of “natural” hair colors are black, red, brown, and blonde. Hair color may not be an “unnatural” color, such as purple, blue, or green.
2. Hair may not be highlighted.
3. Hair may be dyed, but the color of the hair must be dyed a “natural” hair color, such as blonde, brown, black, or red. Hair may not be dyed an “unnatural” color, such as purple, blue, or green.
4. Dyed hair may be dyed only one color at a time (ie: all black, all red). Hair may not be dyed two or more colors at the same time or be “two-toned” (ie: half black/half red).
5. As hair re-grows, care must be taken so the hair color does not become two colors or “two-toned.” Hair may need to be re-dyed to avoid the “two-toned” color of hair.
6. Mohawks are not allowed.
7. Words, numbers, and symbols may not be shaved into the hair.
1. Nail Polish – Fingernails and toenails may be painted, but are not to be painted the colors of black, brown, dark purple, or navy blue. Nails may not be painted using white-out, magic markers, pens, or other similar items. Nail polish is not to be brought to school.
2. Chapstick and Lip Gloss - Chapstick and clear lip gloss may be used at school as needed provided these items are not shared with other children or disruptive in class.
3. Cosmetics - Cosmetics may be used before coming to school, but these items are not to be brought to school. This includes mascara, eye shadow, blush, eye liner, and lipstick.
4. Sweatbands – Sweatbands may not be worn. This includes around the wrists and head.
5. Belts and Belt Buckles – Belts are to fit within three inches of the waist size and may not hang longer than the waist of the pants. Belts with spikes may not be worn. Scarves around the waist, belts with spikes, or belts with inappropriate pictures or words may not be worn. Belt buckles may not display inappropriate or obscene writing, pictures, slang words, or gang-related symbols.
6. Hats, Caps, and Visors - Hats, caps, and visors may be worn outside, but not inside. The bill must face the front and may not face sideways or backwards. Hats, caps, and visors may be any color and may include school-appropriate writing, pictures, and symbols, but may not include inappropriate or obscene writing, pictures, slang words, or gang-related symbols.
7. Head Scarves, Bandannas, Hair Nets, and Other Head Coverings – These items are not to be worn.
8. Sunglasses – Sunglasses may be worn outside, but not inside. Sunglasses must be worn over the eyes or propped on top of the head. Sunglasses may not be worn on the back of the head or around the neck. Sunglasses may be any color.
9. Tattoos – Tattoos are not allowed. This includes real and imitation/fake tattoos. Children with real or imitation/fake tattoos must conceal the tattoos while on campus and at off-campus school events.
10. Keychains and Similar Accessories – These items are not to be brought to school. The items may not hang from backpacks, binders, purses, pant loops, or other similar items.
11. Backpacks – All writing and pictures on backpacks must be printed by the manufacturer, except for the labeling of the child’s name. Writing and pictures not printed by the manufacturer are not allowed. All writing and pictures must be school-appropriate and may not include inappropriate or obscene writing, pictures, or symbols.
12. Writing on Hands, Arms, and Other Body Parts – Writing on hands, arms, legs, and other body parts is not allowed. This includes writing with magic markers, pens, and white-out.
1. Bracelets – A maximum of three bracelets may be worn on each wrist. Bracelets with spikes, sharp points, or inappropriate pictures or words may not be worn.
2. Rings – One ring may be worn on each finger. Knuckle rings and rings with inappropriate symbols or pictures may not be worn.
3. Earrings – Earrings must be worn properly in the ears. Earrings hanging longer than 1” below the ear, spiked or gauged earrings, or earrings with large hoops may not be worn.
4. Necklaces – A maximum of three necklaces may be worn. Chokers and necklaces with inappropriate pictures, words, or symbols may not be worn.
5. Body Piercing – Pierced ears are allowed provided the earrings follow the uniform policy. Other real or imitation/fake body piercing is not allowed. Children with pierced body parts, excluding pierced ears, must conceal the piercing while on campus and at off-campus school events.
1. A “sweatshirt” is defined as the traditional pullover sweatshirt that does not have any buttons, zippers, ties, collar, or hood. (One example of a traditional pullover sweatshirt is the Stepping Stones Academy sweatshirt.) All other types of outdoor wear, such as hooded sweatshirts and sweatshirts with collars or zippers, are considered “jackets.”
2. Sweatshirts must include ribbing around the wrist, waist, and neckline.
3. Sweatshirts may be only one color. Any solid color is acceptable. Sweatshirts may not have stripes, patterns, pictures, words, or more than one color.
4. Sweatshirts may not include lettering, excluding the Stepping Stones Academy school sweatshirt. Sweatshirts with advertisement logos are not allowed.

6. Sweatshirts must be worn over the polo shirt with the collar of the polo shirt showing on the outside of the sweatshirt. Sweatshirts may not be tied around the waist or shoulders.
7. The traditional pullover style of sweatshirt may be worn in the classroom. This is the only style of sweatshirt, coat, or jacket that may be worn inside.
1. A “jacket” is defined as any outdoor wear that is not classified as a “sweatshirt.” Sweaters, hooded sweatshirts, coats, button-down sweaters, and sweatshirts with collars, zippers, buttons, or ties are defined as “jackets.”
2. Jackets may be any color and may be more than one color.
3. Jackets may include school-appropriate pictures, words, and designs. Jackets may not include offensive or inappropriate pictures, writing, or designs or any gang-related symbols.
4. Jackets may be worn outside. Jackets may be kept in the classroom during class, but are not to be worn inside during class.
5. Jackets may not be tied around the waist or shoulders.
