MEET THE GOVERNING BOARD
Mrs. Dedre Alliger is co-founder/principal of Stepping Stones Academy. She graduated from Central College in Pella, Iowa, with a B.A. in English Education and minors in Psychology and Reading. Mrs. Alliger continued her education, specializing in middle school education and curriculum development. She has been involved in teaching and education for over twenty-five years.
Mrs. Tammy Gunnell brings to the governing board her many years of experience of working with children and volunteering in the community. She sponsors children’s after-school groups, counsels children and teenagers in rehabilitation centers, and is active in many community groups.
Mrs. AnnMarie Short is co-founder/principal of Stepping Stones Academy. She graduated from ASU West with a dual major in Elementary and Special Education and earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from NAU. She specializes in special education with an emphasis in preschool and primary education. She has been involved in teaching and education for twenty years.
Dr. Laura Stewart provides her expertise in child psychology, as well as her knowledge and experience in marketing and public relations. She is a graduate of ASU and worked for KTAR 620 AM and K-LITE FM radio station as the Special Events Director. She recently earned her doctorate degree in clinical psychology. She now serves as a psychologist for Southwest Behavioral Health Services.
Governing board meetings are held at least six times per year and are conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Law. The agenda is posted forty-eight hours in advance in the School Office and on the website. The
public is invited to attend. Anyone wishing to be placed on the agenda should contact the school principals.
